The Monks Pub located in Thurles, Co Tipperary is a traditional Irish Pub that has been in the O’ Gorman family for three generations.
Trading at ‘The Monks,’ public house, dates back to the 1860’s and it has retained it’s character down through the years. Although the name P. O’Gorman is still clearly displayed over the door, the pub has become known as ‘The Monks’ as it backs out onto “The Monks Field” .
If you are looking for the ultimate in a real Irish traditional pub experience, then a visit to “The Monks,” is essential. You can expect to drink a quality pint, combined with renowned music, singing and story telling, particularly on a Wednesday night.

Hello. We loved this region of Ireland so much my family and I will be visiting again from the states over Christmas until New Years. First question: Will you be open at all during this time? If so, we will certainly visit. Second question: Is “Puddy” still around? I would love to say hello to him again. He was a great host!
Many Regards.
– Andrew.

Visited in June on a Wednesday night. The only thing better than the whiskey were the patrons and the gorgeous live music. I dream of returning someday.
